Hey, you there!

Hey, you there in the pink tie.  It's Father's Day!  What does a father do when you're far away from all your children and grandchildren??

Well, you make worms!   You make worms...twice.  Because you've been asked to bring them to the youth center and conduct a 'boys activity'.  And you don't want a major Pinterest fail in front of them!

The boys are good sports and join in, but you soon find out they're much more interested in eating your 'oreo dirt' than in the worms.

And, you enjoy your tenth round of Connect Four with Dana because she enjoys beating you...and loves that she has your undivided attention.

You also gloat over beating Angel in a round of ping pong, then sit on the sidelines to be the score keeper for him through several other 'tournaments'...because he also loves having you 'courtside'.

Oh yeah, and you sit on the library floor (because the director says you're a tall man and should try not to intimidate the children) and read to three darling little preschoolers.

And when you're not playing with children...

you become absorbed in your other new obsession - Family History.  And you find less active friends who also share your obsession!

And you read your beloved Book of Mormon. And you mark the new copy as you've been asked - all references to Christ in one color, direct quotes from diety in another, and missionary references in a third.

And you smile when your wife asks why you're in 3 Nephi and she's still in Alma.

And if you're a little homesick for family,.....
you go play in the dirt!  And you make the Little House look a bit more like home.

And you take long morning walks, even in the rain (when your walking partner has long since opted for shelter).

And you pamper your companion.  You care for her, encourage her, say wonderful and kind things every day and make her glad she's here with you.

Happy Fathers Day, my wonderful companion.  And thank you for being you.
